Focusing on Personalized HealthCare

Focusing on Personalized HealthCare

Focusing on Personalized HealthCare

At HARPER | FOSTER, our family office, a series of serious health events affecting our family revealed a fundamental flaw in the healthcare system: An extraordinary amount of health data exists, but very little of it is organized for the benefit of the individual.

Our motto has always been:

“DO WELL WHILE DOING GOOD.”

That principle has led us to focus our investments and efforts on a problem that must be solved.

Today, health information is largely collected and structured to meet the needs of healthcare institutions. Insurers use it to evaluate coverage and claims. Pharmaceutical companies analyze it to assess treatments and develop new therapies. Hospitals and medical professionals rely on it to deliver care, manage costs and improve outcomes.

These are all legitimate and necessary uses.

But the individual — the person whose health the data describes — rarely receives that information in a complete, understandable and genuinely useful form.

Because the healthcare system has never established a clear economic model for assembling, reconciling, interpreting and continuously maintaining a unified health record for the individual.

In other words, the individual is the subject of the data — but rarely its intended user.

Why?

Focusing on Personalized HealthCare

Focusing on Personalized HealthCare

We believe the solution is to begin with individuals and families who have the most complex needs and the highest expectations for privacy, security, integration and service.

•    Build an institutional-grade healthcare platform capable of meeting that standard.

•    Prove that it works.

•    Then scale it for everyone.

Because everyone deserves a personalized, longitudinal and unified health record — one that helps them:

•    Understand their health

•    Communicate more effectively with their physicians

•    Make better-informed decisions about their care

•    Consider evidence-informed lifestyle and non-medical approaches that may improve their quality of life and longevity

The goal is not simply to consolidate fragmented medical data.

It is to transform that data into knowledge people can understand and use—giving them a greater voice in their care and greater ownership of their health.

That is the investment thesis.

More importantly, it is the "WHY” behind what we are looking to find.
